The success of Operation at Ease is only possible because of the commitment of the volunteers and their deep appreciation for the sacrifice of both a military member and a military family while on active duty. Each should be able to find something that meets their own availability and is within their "comfort zone."
Overview (click on names for details):
Front Line Volunteers: Directly supporting one family, one weekend. Each family has a greeter, three meal preparers, and a photographer personally assigned. If a boat ride is chosen, then they will have a personal captain as well.
Seasonal Support Volunteers These volunteers have responsibilities which cover either one month of visits or in some cases the entire summer. They are the glue which holds the operation together.
Year Round Positions: A core of 8-10 meet year round to ensure OAE meets its commitment to the volunteers and families, visits military installations to spread the word, and works with all the businesses that are part of our guests weekends.
An annual gathering is held at the St. James Community Center to provide newly interested and returning volunteers information about the upcoming year.
The next one will be March 18, 2025 at 6PM. Information will be sent out in 'What's Up St. James?'
However, volunteers are welcome to join Operation at Ease year round. If you would like to learn more, or get on the email distribution list email [email protected]
